XOX Partners with Fujitsu « Back
XOX Com Sdn Bhd (XOX), is set to offer consumers a richer user experience and easy access to vast content and Valued Added Services (VAS). XOX is also set to offer effortless integration for content and value added services providers by utilising the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) solution provided by Fujitsu (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.

“We are very happy to be working with Fujitsu, a brand of global stature that will add credibility and cement our commitment in enhancing XOX subscribers with Chinese centric content and Valued Added Services,” said Mr. Ng Kok Heng, President of XOX Com Sdn Bhd.

He added, “XOX is serious about technology and the solutions we deploy; Fujitsu has been known to been a keen supporter of local organizations in developing niche solutions for the Malaysian market. With this collaboration, XOX is able to leverage on both Fujitsu’s local and global resources.”

According to Mr. Masaya Motegi, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Fujitsu Malaysia, the partnership between XOX and Fujitsu marks a landmark deal as XOX Com Sdn Bhd is Fujitsu’s first telecommunication client in Malaysia to implement the SOA solution.

“With the support and experience of the Fujitsu global SOA technologists, Fujitsu has enhanced the expertise locally in implementing SOA solutions, not only in the telecommunications arena but also in the financial industry and government sector in Malaysia. In fact, Fujitsu Malaysia is in the process of finalizing the implementation of SOA based solutions to some very important government agencies and banks. This technology has been successfully implemented by Fujitsu across many industry segments all over the world, clearly showing SOA as a very stable and essential backbone to the technological framework,” added Motegi during the signing ceremony recently held.

Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a concept of service-based business applications which together turn monolithic dedicated applications into independent resources. By breaking down the rigid boundaries between hardware and software, processing, storage and network capacity are literally being liberated. As Service Oriented Architecture gain increasing importance, the need for infrastructure with the ability to dynamically allocate resource to service grows.

Mr Cheam Toon Tong, Director of Professional Services of Fujitsu (Malaysia) said, “Fujitsu has been a pioneer in delivering Service Oriented infrastructure and can provide a complete solution consisting of hardware, software and services, which is already in use by our customers. A fully configured Intel-architecture server can offer SOA a faster and flexible way to adapt to business processes and hence a platform to unleash the power of SOA”.

“SOA is the middleware that accepts request in different transport protocol, transforms the requester’s message format, handles business events associated with the request and returns the required information to the requester,” explained Mr. Robert Chew, Chief Operating Officer of XOX Com Sdn Bhd.

“For example, XOX will be working with various copyright owners / vendors / partners / entrepreneurs to offer various contents, products and value added services. They need not go through the hassle of complicated system integration.”

“All they need to do is to request the info using the pre-defined SOA component, and the SOA will ‘logically’ screen through, orchestrate the relevant business processes and summarise relevant information to be returned to the vendor, advocating seamless connectivity and accessibility,” he further explained.

“SOA also adds an additional layer of security for subscribers and their own personal accounts where the request by various external parties for such information is performed by SOA without revealing what processes or databases are involved. Even XOX internal applications are required to obtain these information via the SOA,” explained Mr. Robert Chew, Chief Operating Officer of XOX Com Sdn Bhd.

Moreover, according to Chew, with the implementation of SOA, XOX is empowering XOX subscribers to promote greater flexibilities in managing their accounts. Through XOX Web Self Care, subscriber can subscribe or unsubscribe their Value Added Services, configure credit limits, perform bill payments and many more.

Mobile subscribers can definitely look forward to richer mobile experience and more innovative packages from XOX Com Sdn Bhd.
